nugwa means give thanks
At its core, nugwa is about intentional living: a reminder to live with gratitude for health, knowledge, and creativity.
nugwa is not a single project. It is a growing ecosystem of ideas and practices rooted in gratitude, sustainability, and care.
nugwa explores how we care for ourselves, our communities and the world, aligning with the following Sustainable Development Goals
SDG 2 – Zero Hunger: promoting nourishing, culturally rooted, and sustainable food practices
SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being: supporting holistic health through evidence-based knowledge and everyday habits
SDG 4 – Quality Education: making scientific and health knowledge accessible, relatable and reflective
SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals: valuing collaboration between science and art
SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production: encouraging mindful creation, reduced waste, and intentional living
SDG 13 – Climate Action: honouring the link between environmental stewardship, food systems, and health
Hi! I am nugwa. I am inherently an aesthete and passionately a scientist. I explore and write about the art of science; the biology of how we feel and live, where creativity inspires purpose, because imagination is essential to innovation and social change.
My background is in Medical Laboratory Science (Medical Microbiology) and Public Health. These fields helped me grasp how deeply interconnected our bodies, environments, and choices truly are.
Everything I share is informed by evidence, but not confined to it. This space holds scientific musings on biological processes, insights on health and nutrition, poetry and creative projects rooted in sustainability, as well as questions about how we might live more consciously, as individuals and a global community.
About The Artsy Scientist
Gratitude is more than saying thank you. It is a way of seeing the world. It reminds us to appreciate what we have, recognise the kindness we’ve received, and acknowledge that no man is an island.
When we live with gratitude, generosity often follows naturally. We become more aware of the needs of others and more willing to share our time, resources, knowledge, or compassion.
At nugwa, we believe giving back is an expression of gratitude in action. One way we do that is by supporting organisations working to improve health, wellbeing, and communities around the world.
Every month highlights a different organisation or humanitarian response that aligns with our values, and 10% of the monthly profit from curated by nugwa is donated to a selected charitable cause.
Alongside our monthly contribution, we encourage anyone who can to support the cause directly through the organisation’s official donation page.
